Engage LIVE – May 2026

April 30, 2026

Engage LIVE is a monthly video update from Frederick Living, where you will discover abundant opportunities to live with purpose in community. In this episode, Betsy Natter, Storyteller, and Lisa McCartin, Director of Sales, present a highlight of upcoming events on campus for May 2026.

Coming up on Wednesday, May 13th at 11:00 a.m., in our Fireside Dining room, you’ll have the opportunity to join us for our Lunch and Learn. It’s a general information session where you get a brief tour of our amenities and you get to have an enjoyable lunch with our residents.

Come back again on Thursday, May 14th, where you can begin your downsizing journey with us. Carol Bruno from Caring Transitions will be here to talk about Downsizing without the Drama. That will be from 2 to 4 pm in our Fireside Dining room.

If you have already joined us for one of our other downsizing seminars and you’ve already started that process, join us in our auditorium that same day, May 14th at 1:30, to learn more about the Pennsylvania Dutch culture.

That’s right. The Curious Legacy of the Pennsylvania Dutch will be a presentation by Brad Smith. He is the site manager of the Ephrata Cloister and he’s a Pennsylvania German language teacher and he will be speaking about the culture and language of the Pennsylvania Dutch. So that should be a really popular presentation.

On Sunday afternoon, May 17th, beginning at 3 p.m. the Ellen Kohler Musical Arts Series will once again present a concert, this time with Double Keyed, a pair of musicians from the Lancaster area playing the piano and oboe. This is a group of musicians that has played or will be playing with the London Symphony Orchestra. So, they promised to be a very entertaining group of musicians.

Then finally on May 30th will be our Steady Freddy 5K and Sticky Bun Fun Run and Walk. We have a special component this year which is the Sticky Bun Adventure Trail for kids 12 and under.

Kids will get to do the walk with their parents, go around to do a couple of little activities, get some stickers, and then receive a medal at the end, as well as a free sticky bun. To sign up for either the 5K or the fun run and walk, please visit our website. That’ll get you a link to the Pretzel City Sports registration site. Ticket prices go up May 11th, so, if you can get it in before then, you’ll save yourself a few dollars and you are then guaranteed a T-shirt. And of course, you’ll all get a free sticky bun as long as you’re registered. For those events and more, please visit our website at frederickliving.org/events.

We hope to see you on campus soon.
