Smart Moves For The Future

Meeting the needs of our residents is always our first priority here at Frederick Living. With the addition of The Meadows, 55 new cottages in a Pocket Neighborhood setting, a brand new service is now being offered to all residents on campus! We are happy to introduce our new shuttle vehicle, name to be determined, a Polaris GEM 6 passenger electric vehicle! Our new electric vehicle offers the luxury of  more typical shuttle vans but leaves a much smaller environmental footprint! The GEM is whisper quiet with zero emissions and low operating costs. Train Show and 120th Anniversary Celebration

Cross Stitch and Needlepoint – Resident Art

Frederick resident Al Neff’s cross stitch and needlepoint pieces are featured in the Gallery at Frederick Living during June and July.  The show includes “Historic Houses of Montgomery County” and “Scenes of Philadelphia,” as well as a variety of others. Al has been doing cross stitch and needle point since the late 1970s. He had a high-stress construction job and found that doing cross stitch relaxed him and gave him peace of mind. Al likes that cross stitch and needlepoint keep his mind active while reducing stress. One cross stitch can take Al anywhere from 50 to 177 hours to...

Scholarship Presentation

Last evening during a Board Meeting, Lexy Alex, Dining Services Server, was awarded the Helen B. Dawson Scholarship presented to her by Mrs. Dawson’s sons, Barrie and Ken Dawson. Thank you to the Dawson family for this incredible gift. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Frederick staff member each year for up to 10 years. Congratulations to Lexy! New Gallery Exhibit Opens

A New Art Exhibit Opens at Frederick Living: Elizabeth Kunkle, Watercolor & Gouache Paintings Frederick Living welcomes local painter and illustrator, Elizabeth Kunkle, who is granddaughter of a Frederick Living resident. She received her BFA in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design. Illustrating animal portraits and botanicals have become a passion. By combining the delicacy of watercolor with the boldness of gouache, Elizabeth builds layer upon layer to achieve a playful balance between the two mediums.
