Volunteers are integral in fulfilling Frederick Living’s mission to provide a continuum of high-quality health care and personal services for older adults. Volunteers give the much appreciated “extras” to our residents on a one-to-one basis.
On average, Frederick Living volunteers contribute thousands of hours of service, directly benefiting residents and programs on the campus each year. We provided opportunities for fellowship and service to over 160 active volunteers ranging in age from young adults to those in their mid-nineties. Each year, dozens of students from nearby Ursinus College serve as volunteers, interacting with residents and working on special projects. This intergenerational interaction provides valuable experience for students who may be interested in a healthcare position, while bringing joy to many older adults.
Request Information on VolunteeringIndividuals over 14 years of age may volunteer at Frederick Living. Younger children may be involved too, through adult supervision programs, such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, church and school groups. There is no maximum age to volunteer at Frederick Living! We need you to be dependable, enthusiastic, and able to show love and compassion to others.
In-person volunteers must initially have a PPD (tuberculosis test) offered at Tower Health and provide proof of a flu shot between October and May. All volunteers must agree to a criminal background check and attend a required orientation and tour. All of this is important in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and fellow volunteers.
