New Holland, PA – Garden Spot Communities is honored to announce that Albert Vega, formerly the Director of Environmental Services at Garden Spot Village and recently promoted to Director of Operations at Frederick Living, was honored with the Distinguished Service Award from LeadingAge PA.
He was honored on Thursday, June 12, 2025, during the General Session of the LeadingAge PA Annual Conference in Hershey, PA.
The Distinguished Service Award is a prestigious honor that acknowledges individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service in the field of aging services. Vega’s contributions have set a high standard for others in the industry.
Vega has been recognized for his exceptional dedication and service to the community. His commitment to excellence and his innovative approach to environmental services have made a significant impact on the quality of life for residents at Garden Spot Communities. Albert’s journey with Garden Spot Village began in 2000 when he joined as an overnight maintenance and security technician. Over the years, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, compassion, and a commitment to excellence that has had a significant impact on both his team and the entire community.
Vega’s leadership style is characterized by empathy, discernment, and a genuine commitment to fostering the growth of those around him. While at Garden Spot Village, he supervised a diverse group of people who work in entry-level positions, representing seven countries, including the United States, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Guatemala, Vietnam, Spain, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. His ability to connect with individuals of varying backgrounds and languages has been one of his greatest strengths.
One of the aspects of Vega’s leadership is his support of the Pathway to Fluency (ESL) program, which was created by Allison Cuthie, the director of ForgeWorks, Garden Spot’s consulting agency. This mentorship program links residents who want to teach English with team members who want to learn it, empowering team members to improve their language skills and dream about their future education and job advancement.
“We are thrilled to see Albert receive this well-deserved recognition,” says Steve Muller, chief operating officer at Garden Spot Communities. “His dedication and hard work have truly made a difference, and we are honored to have him as part of our team.”
