Benefit Events

amazing raise

Currently, our largest benefit event of the year is our participation is a month-long giving program, taking place from October 1-29, 2021 in coordination with Tri-County Community Network called The Amazing Raise. During this designated time any gift received is eligible for proportional (percentage) matching bonus dollars. Gifts can be given via cash, check, and online.

All proceeds from this year’s Amazing Raise gifts at Frederick Living are targeted to help our 125th Anniversary Lighting the Way Campaign and its four objectives.

Our Goal for the 125th Anniversary: Lighting the Way Campaign is $1.1 million:

  • To assist with renovations in Cedarwood Nursing Care Center by enhancing the comfort and convenience of its residents with a number of improvements. ($450,000)
  • To support and grow our Benevolent Care fund ($350,000)
  • To help speed the purchase of two emergency generators for electric power ($200,000)
  • To assist with relief from COVID-19 related expenses ($100,000)

The 125th Anniversary Lighting the Way Campaign is a major fundraising effort to assist with major needs at Frederick Living during this milestone anniversary.  The campaign began its quiet phase in 2019 and kicked off publicly in June 2021 with an announcement of a significant leadership challenge gift of $250,000 from Sodexo, who across the world cultivates innovative dining and hospitality experiences. They have been our dining services company and a strong partner.

Thanks to busy volunteer leaders, lead donors and other donors since the June 2021 kick off, we have raised an additional $117,790 bringing us to $969,741 in gifts and pledges toward our $1.1 million goal (as of September 27, 2021).

If we meet Sodexo’s challenge and raise the remaining $132,210 of their challenge, we will go over our $1.1 million goal to be able to support the worthy needs outlined above.  Your help during The Amazing Raise will leverage additional dollars for the campaign!

If you are paying by check, please make checks payable to “Frederick Living.”  You can designate a specific objective of the campaign such as “Cedarwood Improvements” or “Benevolent Care”, or you can designate your gift to “where needed most” in the campaign by placing a note with your check. Gifts may also be made online by clicking on clicking here.

Frederick Living is investing major capital budget dollars over several years for improvements to Cedarwood Nursing Care Center Improvements, but would love to exceed the $450,000 portion of the campaign to help meet more improvement needs.  As the need for Benevolent Care continues to grow, we would love to exceed the $350,000 of the campaign goal. Please consider helping.  If you cannot give in October 2021, the campaign runs through December 2021. We are happy to take multiple-year pledged gifts, gifts of stock, qualified charitable deduction gifts from IRA’s and even planned gifts such as bequests. Contact Amy Cummings-Leight at 610-754-7878 extension 1250 should you have questions.

Our annual Grand Illumination involves the placement of electronic luminaries in jars in prominent locations across campus to celebrate people who have been special to us. This event benefits our Benevolent Care program, which assists residents who through no fault of their own, can no longer fully cover the cost of their care. It is also an opportunity for corporate donors to be Supporting Sponsors. The event typically kicks off with a concert on a Sunday afternoon in mid-December and the luminaries are lit each night until shortly after Christmas.

The 2021, Grand Illumination will be similar to 2020, due to the pandemic. The kick-off concert will be prerecorded and broadcast in-house on December 19, 2021 at 3PM. It will be available on YouTube for donors, sponsors, and supporters. A link will be placed on our Facebook page as well. This year’s concert will feature Anne Hooper playing violin and accompanied by piano.  Anne is a member of Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra and the Boston Philharmonic.  If you are interested in sponsoring luminaries or becoming a corporate sponsor for the event please e-mail .
