Winter Olympics at Frederick

On February 10th and 11th Frederick celebrated the Olympics! Monday began with an Opening Ceremony in which staff and residents from each area carried the torch throughout campus wearing their red, white, and blue. The Ceremony culminated with one of our Residential Living couples lighting the torch and everyone singing the National Anthem. We kicked off the winter games with beachball volleyball and other games like bean bag toss, horseshoes, basketball, dart tennis, shuffleboard, and hockey.

Residents earned tickets over the two days of games and were then able to trade them in for prizes.  Our Executive Chef provided wonderful samplings of food from six countries, such as Beer and Cheese Soup from Canada, Beef Empanadas from Argentina, and Spanakopita from Greece just to name a few.  We brought the Olympics to a close by watching the inspirational award-winning documentaryAge of Champions.
