Lifelong Learning Series Spring 2019- “Journals, Diaries and Songs of the Old West”
May 23 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The people who inhabited our Old West have been depicted romantically in movies and TV shows, but the reality of life from the 1850s to the 1880s was far different. Crop failure, dried up wells, disease and violence were sadly quite prevalent. We will visit the Old West through the diaries, journals and songs of the settlers, the cowboys, and their women and children. Going back in time to understand these people’s experiences is worth our effort, for these people are our ancestors.
