The Amazing Raise 2018

The BIG Day is COMING!!!

The big day is coming! The Amazing Raise is a 24-hour giving challenge taking place on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 that brings together the Tri-County region’s (Montgomery, Northern Chester, Eastern Berks) nonprofit community to help raise much needed unrestricted funds and shine a spotlight on the good work of nonprofits in the 422 corridor. You can help support Frederick Living’s Benevolent Care fund, or our Dementia Projects. You can go in now and schedule a gift that would be made that day or you can go to this link on October 16, the actual give day, to make a donation: Donations scheduled in advance for that day or given on Tuesday, October 16th itself will be eligible for some matching funds. Please like our Facebook page and consider sharing about our participation in the Amazing Raise with your friends and family through Facebook with the link shown above and encourage them to support this worthwhile event to help Frederick Living to expand its efforts for our residents with the greatest need. The more support we get that day the more matching funds we’d be eligible to receive. If you have questions about this effort feel free to call Amy Cummings-Leight at Frederick Living at 610-754-7878 or e-mail her at

Frederick Living Announces Effort to Help the Victims of Hurricane Harvey Frederick PA—August 29, 2017

In light of the devastating news and images coming from southern Texas and Louisiana,  and the tremendous need of residents there for support and assistance, Frederick Living is reaching out in love to our southern neighbors to assist them in this time of need.  Frederick Living will provide a total matching gift of up to $1000 to two organizations greatly involved in serving the people affected by the Hurricane Harvey disaster.  These organizations are The Salvation Army and Mennonite Disaster Service.  The Salvation Army is actively involved in immediate relief efforts there supplying food, water, shelter and emotional support to vast numbers of victims of this natural disaster.   Mennonite Disaster Services has a team there assessing long term needs and making plans for rebuilding efforts to assist long term after the crisis has passed to areas that may be overlooked by larger organizations.

We are inviting residents, staff and other friends of Frederick Living who would like donate funds to aid this effort to make checks payable to Frederick Living and mark in the memo line either Salvation Army-Harvey or Mennonite Disaster Service-Harvey.   We will aggregate these gifts and donate them to these organizations, and Frederick Living will match these total funds up to a $1000 total.   In order to get help to these folks quickly we are asking that all contributions be received no later than Monday, September 11, 2017.

Please put your check in a sealed envelope and mail to:  “Harvey Effort”/Advancement Office, Frederick Living, P.O. Box 498, Frederick, PA 19435-0498.   These are charitable donations and will be receipted for income tax purposes to the extent allowable by law.  If you have any questions please call Amy Cummings-Leight, Director of Advancement at 610-754-7878, Ext. 250.

June Wyse

June Wyse

When I realized that I had been at Frederick Living for one year, I began to think more seriously about giving back.  I decided that I want to give money away now while I still can enjoy seeing the benefits and the surprised expressions on people’s faces when they receive a check.  I get a lot of joy from giving, and I believe strongly in supporting the need for resident benevolent care at Frederick Living.  Some will outlive their resources simply because of the great care and enrichment Frederick offers to the residents here.  I too, expect to live a long fulfilled life!  So, when it comes to giving back, try it…you’ll like it!

Jack & Ellen Koehler

Jack and Ellem Koehler

We have lived at Frederick Living for several years and recognized the importance of being active in the community.  It gives us joy to participate in various activities with our fellow residents, and Jack in particular enjoys being outdoors riding his bike.  We also feel blessed to assist those that have run short of resources and we believe that our planned gift will help many in the years to come.

John & Gladys Hasson

Virtually from the day the Hassons moved into their villa, they have been deeply involved in life at Frederick Living. John is one of our drivers and helps other residents get to their doctor and dentist appointments. Gladys sings in the chorus and occasionally as part of a duet in our Sunday worship service. The Hassons recently provided a significant donation to underwrite the purchase of items needed in our newly renovated Cedarwood Health Center.

Jay Flint

Jay operated a bison farm until she moved into one of our villas last year. Near the end of the year she gave a substantial gift toward our Resident Benevolent Care Fund. “As seniors face the many physical difficulties of old age, it can become very discouraging. Financial problems only compound the stress,” Jay wrote us. “At Frederick the compassionate staff does so much to give comfort to the residents. The benevolent fund alleviates the worries about financial concerns. I want to support any residents who might find themselves in the situation of running short of funds through no fault of their own.”

Dave & Ann Christ

The main reason we believe it is important to give to Frederick Living goes back to Dave’s parents, when they moved into a senior living community.  That was the first time we had heard about a “continuing care retirement community.”  Thankfully the one they chose was faith-based and committed to caring for them for life, even if they should live long enough to outlive their means of support.  Today, as an active part of the Frederick Living community, we know it is important to help perpetuate the continuing care community for the benefit of those who run short of funds through no fault of their own.  Our children are comfortable with the decision to include Frederick in our estate and they support our wishes.
