ACTIVE AGING AT FREDERICK LIVING ACTIVE AGING AT FREDERICK LIVING

Frederick Living will be a host organization for Active Aging Week, sponsored by the International Council on Active Aging®.

Active Aging Week, which is being held Sunday, September 22 through Saturday, September 28, 2013, is an annual event organized by the International Council on Active Aging®. It is a national observance which highlights the diverse opportunities available to older adults, with the goal being to give as many older adults as possible the means to experience activities and exercise in a safe, friendly and fun atmosphere. Frederick Living will once again be participating as a host organization for this fun and educational week.

For 2013, the theme of the week “Discover Your Community,” encourages older adults and the organizations that serve them to focus on developing a more active community as part of an overall wellness objective. Whether as a tourist to a new local site or “discovering” that a stairwell would be better off painted and lighted, Frederick Living, along with other organizations serving older adults across the country, will be planning vibrant programs and activities that are fun, educational, and focus on community connections.

Programming that is being scheduled at Frederick Living includes a Wellness Health Fair open to the public with vendors from the local community, an ice cream social, several exciting musical programs, horticultural craft demonstrations, and cookie baking for organizations in the local community. There will also be a presentation titled, “Healing with Humor” given by a certified laugh instructor. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting week in September!
